Karen’s interest in scuba diving started on a trip
to Venezuela. During the month long stay, she snorkeled several times in
the clear blue waters of the Caribbean. Although snorkeling was
incredible, the desire to get under the water with the fish was
ignited. Shortly after returning from the trip, Karen completed her
open water certification. There’s nothing like a check out dive in the
bone chilling waters of Lake Travis in January!
Although Karen loved diving, she took a ten year
hiatus. She began diving again in 1996 starting with an open water
refresher course and quickly went on to become an advanced diver, rescue
diver and achieved her Divemaster certification in December 1999. Since
taking up diving again, she’s been on some wonderful trips. They range
from diving the Bonne Terre mine in Missouri to the Texas Flower
Gardens, Honduras, Cozumel (many times) to Grand Cayman. Although
Karen’s been to some beautiful, clear water dive sites, she hasn’t seen
too many muddy lakes she wasn’t willing to get in.
