SERVICE AND REPAIR

We B Divin’ provides service on all brands of scuba gear with manufacturer recommended parts.  We provide warranty service on AquaLung, Atomic, Mares, and Tusa brands.  Please feel free to call or come by with any questions you may have about gear service.

Your regulator is not only one of the most expensive pieces of SCUBA equipment you own, it is a complex life-support system. While your BCD is not life support equipment, it is without a doubt, very important to your diving comfort and enjoyment. As divers, we expose our gear to corrosive elements such as sand, salt, and chlorine. These things not only affect the performance but the reliability of all your gear. For these reasons, we recommend that you not only have your gear serviced annually or every 60 dives (whichever comes first), but that you develop good habits for cleaning and storing your gear. If you would like to be more informed about the operation and maintenance of your gear, may we recommend the PADI  Equipment Specialty course?

REGULATOR REPAIR/SERVICE PROCESS

  1. Your regulator is inspected to make certain the repair is not going to exceed the cost of a new unit. We then check for any applicable upgrades to the first stage, primary or secondary. If any of these is the case, you will be contacted for a decision. (An inspection fee may apply.)
  2. Your regulator is tested for working pressures and the information is recorded.
  3. The hoses are removed and disassembled, that is, the spindles and/or o-rings are removed.
  4. The first stage, primary and secondary are disassembled.
  5. After disassembly, each unit of your regulator is cleaned. The metal parts are treated in an ultrasonic bath with a mild organic acid for scale and metal oxide removal and metal brightening. Synthetic parts are cleaned via a warm mild detergent bath. All parts are then rinsed with fresh water, blown dry with filtered compressed air, and inspected under high magnification for minute internal damage.
  6. Computers are cleaned on the exterior and batteries are checked for adequate charge. Scratch guards are checked and replaced if necessary.
  7. Depth gauges are pressurized in a pressure-pot to a minimum of 30 feet and tested for accuracy and leaks.
  8. During reassembly complete parts kits are installed as per the specific manufacturer’s specifications (this may include some or all of various o-rings, springs, valves, diaphragm and filters). Connections are torqued to manufacturer’s specifications using calibrated torque wrenches. We B Divin’ uses only oxygen compatible lubricants during reassembly.
  9. After reassembly, internal pressures are checked and calibrated to manufacturer’s specifications using a flow bench.
  10. The exterior of synthetic parts is treated with silicone.
  11. The regulator is pressurized and also submerged to verify there are no leaks or internal pressure creep.

BCD SERVICE/REPAIR PROCESS

  1. Your BCD is inspected to make certain the repair cost is not going to be excessive. During this inspection, every working component (zipper, velcro, clip) of your unit is visually inspected for defects. We then check for any applicable upgrades to the low power inflator or the unit itself. If either of these is the case, you will be contacted for a decision. (Inspection fee may apply.)
  2. The low power inflator is disassembled.
  3. Dump valves are removed.
  4. Bladders, if possible, are removed. All bladders are checked for contaminants and cleaned internally. They are then fully inflated and submersed in a deep tank to check for air leaks.
  5. After disassembly, each section of your BCD is cleaned.
  6. During reassembly complete parts kits are installed as per the specific manufacturer’s specifications (this may include some or all of various o-rings, springs, and filters). We B Divin’ uses only EAN compatible lubricants during reassembly.
